Casey Anthony Verdict

After weeks of testimony, the Casey Anthony jury returned a verdict that – by many accounts – could be described as “stunning.”Not Guilty on three of the most serious charges against her – 1st degree murder, aggravated manslaughter and aggravated child abuse – in connection with the death of her two-year-old daughter Caylee. Casey Anthony was convicted of making false statements to investigators.

The morning started with jurors in the Casey Anthony trial back in deliberations, for the second day.
Amid speculation that the weeks-long trial could end with the jury taking several days to render a verdict, news crews covering the trial still packed the sidewalks outside the courthouse.

The seven women and five men who found Casey Anthony not guilty of the murder of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee declined to discuss the verdict that stunned court watchers. As an aside, NBC News tweeted out the picture below of Casey Anthony as the verdict was being read. It was a picture using the Instagram app, and the use of that app garnered nearly as much interest as the case and verdict itself.

  1. Greetings from Decatur, GA (6 miles east of downtown Atlanta). Great summary (looks like a lot of work), and thanks for including my tweet. I’ve got to learn how you built this, so I can do the same.

    • Greetings from San Antonio, and thanks for the good word. I used a site called Storify.com – which allows you to build stories using social media (thus, comments like yours from Twitter, Facebook, pictures from Flickr, et cetera) can be searched and used to tell a story. Unfortunately, I think Storify is still going through some growing pains, as I was unable to get on the site yesterday. But, it’s a very easy and useful tool to build user-generated comment-centric stories.
      Have a great day, Dave.
